Dhaka, May 17 — Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus called for collective effort on Friday to attain premier telecommunications and IT services across all sectors.

He said the interim government is sincere in developing the country’s telecommunication and information technology (IT) sectors and it has ensured transparency and accountability in all the activities of these sectors.

The principal advisor issued these comments ahead of World Telecommunication and Information Society Day, set to be observed in the nation this Saturday under the theme ‘Achieving Gender Parity Through Digital Advancement.’

“I am delighted to learn that World Telecommunication and Information Society Day is going to be celebrated on May 17 in Bangladesh like elsewhere in the world,” he added.

Professor Yunus advocates for synchronized and efficient measures to eliminate the waterlogging issue in Chittagong.

The lead advisor stated that equitable involvement of both males and females across all areas of digital advancement and telecommunications services is essential for fostering a bias-free and contemporary society.

He emphasized that the provisional administration is dedicated to guaranteeing equal chances and rights for both genders across various aspects of digital progress, adhering to the principles of the massive demonstrations in July. He further stated, “This is precisely why I believe the topic ‘Gender Equality in Digital Transformation’ holds considerable importance.”

He mentioned that various IT services are being introduced via union information and service centers nationwide. Additionally, initiatives have been initiated for ‘She-STEM’ training aimed atfemalestudents as well as specializedfreelancingtraining programs designed forwomenentrepreneurs.
